Adding honey to Green and White tea: is the honey reducing any benefits of the tea?

July 26th, 2008 · 5 Comments

I'm not a tea expert but i started drinking green and white tea for its known health benefits but to be honest the taste is horrible, if i add honey or a non-caloric sweetner will it slightly lower the health benefits or it will make no difference? Help!

well yeah even adding a cube of sugar reduces a slight benefit lik instead of losing 20 calories you lose eighteen adding honey you lose like nine and your not building up your health system as well

Honey is high in calories, so it is best to use it sparingly, but honey is about twice as sweet as regular (cane) sugar ounce for ounce, so you only have to use half as much to get the same amount of sweetness. In many countries, people do not use honey as we do in this country (as a sweetener). They take honey for its natural medicinal value.

      honey has health benefits:

Honey is composed of sugars like glucose and fructose and minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium chlorine, sulphur, iron and phosphate.

It contains vitamins B1, B2, C, B6, B5 and B3 all of which change according to the qualities of the nectar and pollen. Besides the above, copper, iodine, and zinc exist in it in small quantities.

If you have allergies, honey can be beneficial. If you eat honey that is local to your area, it may help prevent your seasonal allergies. Bees use the pollen from local plants and eventually it ends up in your honey.

      Honey has powerful antimicrobial properties

There is evidence that honey diluted in water will help with your stomach aches and dehydration.

Honey may also be effective in the treatment of your ulcers. In Europe, honey has been used internally to help cure ulcers, particularly stomach ulcers
