Are herbal teas dangerous in pregnancy? I started to drink fruit teas rather than regular tea.?

I read recently that this could be harmful when pregnant or trying. Does anyone known how true this is, whether it applies to fruity teas, and why it is so? Thanks.

My midwife told me to drink raspberry leaf tea towards the end of my pregnancy. Its supposed to help you along. My son was born on his exact due date so whether it helped, who knows but it certainly did no harm.

Avoid rasberry leaf, I bought some at Holland and Barret and she rightly checked if I was preggers or not. It can bring on labour. Not heared of a risk with any other.

Fruit teas are fine during pregnancy and a much better alternative to regular tea, whether caffienated or decaf!
The only tea you should avoid is raspberry leaf until the 32nd week of pregnancy as it helps to prepare the uterus for labour.
Also avoid teas that have St Johns Wort and Echinachea in them.

Fruit teas are fine, and a healthier drink then regular tea or coffee. Its HERBALS you have to watch out for! too often we get told its safe to drink X herbal tea, only later to be told, no dont! X is bad for you!!! Research is also still not 100% sure of all the effects and side-effects herbs can have on an unborn baby.

So when in doubt, leave it out!!!
