I have been taking a fiber supplement in addition to my prenatal vitamin and Expecta (a DHA supplement). I just read the fiber supplement bottle -it's the CVS Fiber Plus Weight Management with chrome mate & green tea. (It is compared to Soluble Fiber in Fiber Choice). I do know I need to gain weight and I have been doing so, but I worry about the green tea in it. I heard green tea can be bad for you. I am 13 weeks pregnant.
I am eatting a well-balanced diet in addition to the fiber supplement.

Have you thought about not taking a fiber supplement and just eating whole grain bread, cereal, & pasta. I have heard that green tea is a no-no when pregnant b/c not only the caffeine but the fact that it speeds up your metabolic rate. I do not know what chrome mate is but if I were you I'd try to find out. Does your doctor know you have been using supplements? Maybe he can recommend a diet or nutrionist instead.

Green tea blocks the absorption of folic acid, so that is why it is not advised during pregnancy. Folic acid is very important to your babies development, especially in the first trimester.

green tea is fine. Although it does impede the uptake of folic acid dont drink it when you are taking your multi vitamin or shortly thereafter.
Decaf is best, but one caffeinated tea a day is fine.
