I know two people who claim to have lost weight just by drinking green tea. They claim that their diet did not change otherwise, and they did not increase their exercise regimen. My GF has heard claims that green tea increases metabolism. From brief, personal experience drinking the stuff, I seem to have more, um, movements, when I drink green tea. Anyone else out there have a similar experience?

There is no evidence that it helps you to lose weight. It is however a great antioxidant. I drink green tea daily and fluid will fill you up in turn suppressing your appetite. Tea is a stimulant as it contains caffeine. Perhaps they didn't realize that they were doing more, activity wise, and in turn lost some weight.

No, only way to lose weight is to decrease caloric intake & increase physical activity.

in asia, we drink green tea especially after meals beacuse it aids with digestion and cleansing.
as for drinking the tea alone, it does not serve as a weightloss supplement.
it is a very healthy addition to weightloss program though =)

i read somewhere that drinking 4 cups a day coupled with at least 30 minutes of walking will help shed weight.
But, as with all these weight loss things, it is probably a crock

It has caffeine and so your heartrate will increase. That plus the fact that drinking a lot of warm liquid helps to feel like getting something into the stomach may help a bit during a diet. But I would not rely on it.
