Does Green Tea help you dream?

August 11th, 2008 · 3 Comments

This seems like a silly question even to me but I just had to ask. I’ve been drinking a lot of green tea and it is easily my favorite drink now as I drink probably 7 cups a day. I’ve also noticed that I’ve dreamed a lot more recently. At first I thought it was merely a coincidence but I decided to google it anyways.

The first link I found was this: http://www.articlesbase.com/health-articles/using-green-tea-for-lucid-dreams-457470.html

It seems to suggest that there is some connection but I could not find any source of information other than that 1 page. So I figured I’ll give the yahoo community a shot.

I would bet that it’s the caffeine, not the green tea, that makes your dreams seem more memorable or frequent. (And the article seems to agree with me).

Many stimulants interrupt deeper sleep, so you may find yourself waking up throughout the night, waking up out of REM/dream cycles, etc. As such, you’d have a more immediate memory of your dreams and they would seem more vivid.

I’m not totally sure though. I’ve been on Zoloft for about a year now, and that *definitely* gives me strange, vivid dreams. It also has stimulant properties, like caffeine.

I would chalk it up to that.

I’ve never heard of that, but what I do know, is that green tea is very healthy. It’s great for your digestive system and has lots of antioxidants to prevent and cure illness. I drink iced green tea and love it! I’ve replaced soda pop with green tea and am so happy did. Maybe the reason why you’re dreaming more, is because the green tea is causing you to relax more. Who knows - - just a thought.

Caffeine could be somewhat responsible. Some teas assist more in relaxation which could cause more vivid dreams due to a deeper sleep. Teas like our Bianca tea assist in helping a person get a better sleep.
