I have also heard that green tea helps burn fat, but have not really researched this.
However, for your calorie intake, are you talking about eating only 500 calories, or reducing your calorie intake by 500 calories. If you are talking about reducing your calorie intake by 500, then this is okay. If you are planning on only eating 500 calories, this is too severe of a cut back on calories and you will more than likely slow down your metabolism causing you to stall your weight loss.
Use this weight loss calculator to see how many calories you should consume to lose weight. This calculator factors in your exercising as well.

Actually, there hasn't been solid proof on the actuall effects of green tea and fat burning but one theory is that since green tea has antioxidents in it they help to cleanse your system, allowing your body to be more efficient in burning fat and digesting food. I drink about three large glasses per day, and since I have I have seen an improvement in my skin but not so much any weight loss.
To reach your goal I would suggest only decreasing your caloric intake to about 1500 since you are exercising (without knowing your body type this is hard to estimate but this is a general healthy guidline for people at the higher end of the normal weight range for their height) Don't decrease calories any less or you will trick your body into starvation mode, so when you return to normal caloric intake (sorry but its a fact that you cannot live the rest of your life on 500 calories a day) your body will not be as efficent in metabolizing the fat. Be sure the 1500 calories are from healthy foods such as fresh fruits and veggies, whole grain foods, and organic dairy products. Also bran cereals are great in the morning, eating a large bowl in the morning with plenty of water (or tea) will help clean your bowels out.
I would also suggest running as your means of cardio. You may not see a dramatic weight loss (you most likely will gain muscle) but you will see results in the tone of your legs, and even your arm and chest muscles.
Don't worry so much about the number on the scale but focus more on how your body feels and how your clothes fit.
Good luck!!!!
