yes.

No, don't do it. Long term tea soaking will wear down the hair's natural durability! Tea has a mild acid in it.

I don't think so, but i heard soaking your hair in coffee (expresso) should darken the hair.
11 largegrasseatingmonster // Feb, 2008
The reason it would be darker is the same reason a tea pot gets darker WHEN YOU DON'T WASH IT. That means that if you don't mind tea tannin in your hair and you aren't going to wash it, then yeah, it'll work.
Get it professionally done if you are worried about messing it up. Just because you use something "natural" doesn't mean it won't be harmful. Cyanide occurs naturally in nature btw.

I'm not sure about black tea but I heard that soaking your hair in rosemary tea brings out the red lights in your hair! I think it does work a bit.

Just shave it and you can save tons of cash.

try a semipermanent one in a box. there's no ammonia, and this is more like a light conditioner with a bit of color in it. it washes out in 5-8 washes usually, but i find it can last longer depending on the brand.

It works the same way that soaking it in pomegranate juice would make it redder. They are natural dyes that can be used on many types of porous material including hair.

i like the answers given to you. apply them all and your hair will surely darken — from the tea advice to the cappuccino by passing the espresso which is darker…and nothing helps try Turkish coffee..it is much darker. joke apart — take care of your hair — not all artificial substances will make it change — definitely not permanently. ask direct — your own –hair dresser…sometimes they are reluctant to talk and give advice…try with a tip. they touch more hair than you want to think. it all depends on the quality and quantity of hair you have on top of you –in a manner of speaking…but i like your question — it raised lots of odd responses…that means you have to be careful…where you put your cup of tea…better direct it towards your mouth — specially if it is hot…and not on top of your head. lol.

Curl: I dont know about that black tea . But it's herbal brand
stuff sure read the label first before using because some
remendies might not work at all as suggested .Well you could
try by washing hair only with shampoo & conditioner then rinse
completely after words!

Temporarily it does, but after you wash your hair, it's gone.
23 sugarpacketchad // Feb, 2008
I would say that it darkens your highlights a little, but it is only temporary. It couldn't last through many washes.
24 fullofsunshine // Feb, 2008
I would think not. But if you use kool aid it will color your hair.
Like if you use red kool aid it will turn your hair red.
25 stargazer // Feb, 2008
Try genetic engineering! Nevermind someone's hair will lose its color-they wont mind
26 lulazdoz // Feb, 2008
it will temporarily stain the hair. Better to use "fancy full" in the mousse…it really works, temporary and comes in all shades. You decide when to wash it out instead of a tea stain that will eventually fade..and also be a different color…. PURPLE possibly or a dingy god awful grayish color?? Fancy Full is a better solution. I'm also a hair stylist and colorist.

I can tell you black walnut hulls which surround the black walnut will make your hair a nice dark color. Ever hull walnuts without gloves? Your hand turns dark brown.
The Health Food Stores sell natural hair dyes. Henna a green plant that turns hair a reddish color, mullin a yellow spiket flower brings out golden hair highlights.
There you go!

37 FashionGirl16 // Feb, 2008

38 star_unknown1 // Feb, 2008
You can use natural henna paste. Its a very good way to color your hair. Moreover it makes your hair soft.
39 scorpianna // Feb, 2008
Try it, and see for yourself, then let us all know
40 Mrs. sykes // Feb, 2008
no that is just a myth, it doesnt work
41 anonymous // Feb, 2008
yes, tea has tannic acid in it. it stains and is really hard to remove from stuff it gets on.
to darken your hair, the tea has to be strong, though. if you have the time, you should dip the teabags in hot water and peice by piece, soak clumps of hair in the tea bag. depending on the length of your hair, it could take awhile!!
42 MiaMia27 // Feb, 2008
i think the dye in the tea might deposit in small amounts. you can get clairol naturals hair color and it will enhance your shade too.
43 tincre // Feb, 2008
Try India ink - the real stuff. that'll darken your hair .
44 JistheRealDeal // Feb, 2008
No, don't do it. Tea is not healthy for the hair. There are so many other alternatives available.

47 dave b // Feb, 2008
why not get some black walnut hulls& put them in water & let soak till it turns dark then go soak your hair in it.
48 fastily1 // Feb, 2008
No. It stains but not well enough to darken your hair. You need to use dyes
49 position28 // Feb, 2008
Tea doesn't do that. For sure.
50 selly // Feb, 2008
i'm not sure about the black tea, but there is a company that goes by the name of 'lush' who claim to have all natural products, including hair dyes.
