I think the only reason they say no is cause of the caffeine. However, as long as you're not drinking gallons of it, I think it's fine.

Green tea is very high in caffeine and therefore not the best idea. It has much higher levels than regular tea.
I would recommend you avoid it or at least check with your midwife or doc before drinking it.

i really don't see why it wouldn't be safe!! during my last pregnancy that's pretty much all i drank… (not the lipton brand but green tea with jasmin) and i never had any problems…. never heard from my doctor that it's unsafe either…
but i've seen this question on here several times…. and makes me wonder why people think it might not be safe…

Some caregivers don't advise drinking green tea because there is a chemical EGCG, that is in green tea that affects the way the body uses folate. And if you don't know what folate is, it helps prevent neural tube defects. As you are alerady so far along I don't think it would really apply. The only thing is the caffeine, which is obvious, to limit the intake.
Personally I don't see anything wrong with it, just skim it by your caregiver and see their opinion.

I read in a pregnancy book somewhere Green Tea is a no-no because of an antioxidant it contains?
I did some quick research and found this online:

It basically says there is a risk of neural tube defects due to the antioxidant EGCG. You are obviously well past the stage of the chance of neural defects…I'd say drink in moderation! = )

Amanda is right. They don't want you drinking it because it decreases folic acid which is much needed in pregnancy.
