Green Tea with Hoodia and Hyper insulinemia?

June 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I have hyperinsulinemia (which is similar to the glucose disorder) where basically my body overproduces insulin whenever I eat food because it is less reactive to the food in my body (you eat a cookie, I eat a cookie, my body produces twice as much insulin as yours).

I'm wondering how taking a green tea supplement will affect my insulin levels. I take 500mg of Glucophage twice a day with meals, so i'm managing that way.

don't answer this question if you aren't serious - i'm not looking for a smart-assed "obvious" answer.

Thanks!

You have metabolic syndrome, also known as insulin resistance. This is a pre-diabetic state.
Your best idea will be to build muscles (which take up sugar and have a better metabolic rate) and to lose overall body weight.
Green tea is absolutely fine for you. I recommend it PLAIN without hoodia or other stimulants. Your adrenergic nervous system (the fight or flight hormones) do interact with glucose and insulin levels, so you should avoid hoodia, ephedra, ma huang, and all the rest.
Green tea by itself, or oolong, is fine, and will help you to lose weight. Go to an asian store so you don't get ripped off by a "health food" store. Asian stores have good cheap teas that are better quality. Loose leaf is cheapest, and when the leaves settle to the bottom of the tea cup, it is finished brewing. You can even eat the leaves. (yummy!)
At the asian store you can also find a water heater that will hold up to 3 liters of water and keep it at a perfect tea temperature all day so you can have tea whenever you want.
      good luck and stay healthy!
