Green Tea?

March 24th, 2008 · 7 Comments

I've heard that green tea can help in weight loss, I've been dieting and jogging on a small trampoline for 30 mintues every day for a couple weeks now but I can't seem to lose any more weight. When I started I lost three pounds in one day, but I think that was just because of all the water I started drinking. I'm really trying to shed ten pounds a months but am completely willing to settle for a low as seven. I'm not eating any junk food or fast food either so I just don't see the problem.

Anyway, I was wondering if gree tea might help, if so, how much should I be drinking every day? And, will it add to unwanted weight?

Green tea can boost your metabolism. You might want to drink it 2 times a day if you're really serious. Not only can it boost your metabolism, it reduces risks of diseases.

i was thinking green tea would help out a lot …but truth hurts..i did my research and well if you drink a bottle of water with the green tea small packages u put in your bottle of water..then you will burn about 60 calories…but the thing they dont tell you is that you have to drink 8 bottles of water with the green tea in it….so its harsh and would have to take a lot of committment… so good luck… i would just run or walk more…because 60 calories burnt really isnt that much if you think about it…but every bit does help..

1.Green tea extract may promote weight loss, according to an article in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. Green tea extract may also help dieters shed fat. Green tea is a safe alternative to traditional pharmaceuticals because its use is not accompanied by an increase in heart rate.

2.Green Tea has demonstrated superior antioxidant properties in experimental studies than vitamin C or E. Green Tea also has the capability to increase the activity of antioxidant enzymes.

It is not known exactly how much you need to reap the potential benefits, but four cups a day or more may be required for benefit. Do not add milk if possible, as it reduces the availability of the active flavonoid.

Unlike some other antioxidants, those found in Green Tea cause no toxic side-effects.

The most worrisome chemical in green tea is caffeine, but this occurs in small amounts (an average of 20 to 30mg per cup, if brewed for two to three minutes). This is much less caffeine than in coffee.

Yes regular consumption of tea will assist with weight control

The major components responsible for the anti obesity and hypolipidemic (lowering blood fat level) effects are catechins, caffeine, and theanine. They reduce body weight through following mechanisms:

      - down-regulation of fatty acid synthase gene (The gene responsible for fat forming enzyme production).
      - stimulation of cell energy expenditure.
      - reduce food intake and food efficiency.
      - increase fat oxidation.

Generally aim to drink more then 4 cups per day for effect.
