Green teas vs PG tips?

February 28th, 2008 · 16 Comments

I'm thinking of trying green teas to substitute some of my normal tea intake (it will be difficult…. PG is my life blood). Does anyone drink any type of green tea and do you recommend it…..how does it benefit you in particular?

the problem with green tea is that it doesn't taste nice. just one man's opinion.

Just try having green tea with honey. It'll taste like sugar cane. And add condense milk in PG tips. It'll taste like heaven!

Green tea is an acquired taste, and eventually you'll learn to apreciate it as much as normal tea. It is a superb antioxidant, and I believe included in the 'superfood' category. Very good for cleansing the system.
However, I wouldn't totally forget about common or garden PG tips, because green tea with a bacon sandwich simply won't do.

Green tea is sometimes an acquired taste a bit like beer or wine it can grow on you. Try Twinging or for a more Authentic taste try visiting your local China Town there should sell Green Tea.
I love Green Tea and Lemon it is sold and severed chilled.
Green Tea is said to have antioxidants that will help with preventing cancers and heart disease.
Normal day to day tea can be beneficial but once milk is added the beneficial effects are lost due to enzymes in the tea reacting with the milk.

I tried it and it tastes like urine.
Whittard make fruit tea that comes in little tubs. It is lovely. I have tried a few other brands but they are disgusting.

I drink green tea cause it has antioxidants. I don't like the taste much. I heard also that it melts away the stored fats in your body.

Try darjeeling first. It's a black tea but has a flavour that is a bit closer to green tea than most black teas are.
If you like darjeeling then try green tea. Twinnings and Whittards both do nice green tea in bags.
I would not give up something you like just because there is something else available. Drink a few cups of each every day!

Avoid those green tea bags like the plague, they are disgusting. You have to get loose green tea. The best brand is gunpowder, which is fortunate as it's one of the cheapest. You can get it in any chinese supermarket. Also, try jasmine tea (again, not in bags, minging) which you can also get in chinese supermarkets. It's green tea but with jasmine flowers in which sweetens the taste. I just put the leaves in the bottom of the cup and pour the boiling water on, but at first you probably won't want it too strong so you should maybe put it in a strainer.

i've been drinking the twinings green tea and pineapple and grapefruit for about a week now. wasnt sure i'd like it, but love it. It has its bonus to. Not only is it suppose to be good at detoxing, its reported to help prevent against cancer and heart disease. All i know is been drinking it a week, i've slept better and have lost 4 lbs, so feeling good. Incedently also tastes good when it goes cold, unlike traditional teas
