Wu-yi tea is named so because it is grown in the wuyi mountainous area of China. It is made from the same Tea plant called Camellia Sinensis. The method of processing the leaves determine the kind of tea it becomes.

Black tea is processed the longest amount of time. White tea is processed the shortest amonut of time. Oolong tea is process less than black tea but more than green tea. (this is a very simplified example)

Wu-yi tea is actually processed as oolong tea. It is known by many names: wu-yi tea, wu long, wulong, oolong. It seems to be a marketing ploy to convince people to think it is new.

Wu-yi tea does contain antioxidants and it is said to increase the metabolism. With exercise and diet it will help with weight loss.
