Has anyone else experienced diarrhea from drinking Oolong tea?

August 31st, 2008 · 3 Comments

In the last 3 days I have drank four cups of oolong tea. Today (3rd day) I have experienced a lot of diarrhea. I have not been able to find that diarrhea is a side effect. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced something simialar.
note: I am not drinking oolong tea to lose weight, I have done my research on it’s health benefits and that is why I began drinking the tea.

I would look at your diet, tea really has nothing in it to make you have that problem. In terms of caffeine, it can make you squirt like mad if you take too much of it, but oolong only has about 30mg of caffeine, while a cup of coffee has about 80mg.

Check your nutritional plan, and supplement with cinnamon for a day or two, sprinkle some on your cereal in the morning, it will help with the diarrhea.

Also, if you are just starting to drink and eat dairy foods and have not in the past, it could do this as well.

Dragon-well tea has so many health benefits that it’s hard to imagine any kind of health-risk from drinking it. Did you get it directly from China? There’s a small possibility that you may have gotten a tainted batch. You see, I live in China and drink 2-3 cups a day (yeah, I’m a bit addicted) and have never had any bad side effects, but I have heard a few stories about different kinds of tea having some kind of bug.
Is there any possibility that it could be something else? Influenza, Listeria; something along those lines?
