How can I make my black tea taste like asian tea stores’?

October 15th, 2008 · 1 Comment

There is an asian tea store near my house that makes a ridiculously good black tea. It’s heavily sweetened, but doesn’t seem to have the aftertaste of table sugar. Their honey teas also don’t taste like when I make it using liquid or crystalized honey.

I’ve read they use Assam black tea, but I’m not sure about this either.
If you work at a TapEx or know somebody who does, or other stores (lollicup, quickly, etc) or are just really good at making tea, could you please help me out? Thanks.
Any other answers?
Not placebo effect. I've gotten closer with some modifications to my recipe, like doing even black tea at 75C rather than boiling (saw it on a notepad there once) and using fructose (saw a label on a bucket) instead of sugar, but I'm still not quite there.

This is a common case and notion. However, it could simply be that the tea house you go to has some little bits of additives to it like adding a touch of other herbs or types of sugars. Then there is the chance that this feeling of yours is simply a placebo effect. The effect of liking what you had purchased and the experience of eating/drinking in there seeming to make the tea better.
