If so by how much? Is it worth it to make it a point to drink green tea to help you lose weight (while also eating healthy and exercising five times a week)? Or are its effects not that significant?

This is my guess and my bias against claims that a drink will help boost your metabolism.
The best method is to exercise and increase muscle mass. Muscles still burn calories while at rest.
If you like green tea, drink it for pleasure and if it does boost metabolism then that's a bonus. I wouldn't go in expecting a great benefit, which I doubt really exist.

It does, but not by much. It's not a diet supplement, it won't lose the weight for you. It only boosts your metabolism slightly. You still have to watch what you eat and exercise. I suggest grazing. You eat pretty much 24/7, but not a lot. Just a little. This method of eating keeps your metabolism at a constant, higher rate. So instead of eating 3 big meals, or 2 because I know some people don't eat breakfast. Eat 6 small meals. I eat 2 1/2 big meals, and graze in between. It keeps my metabolism high and surprisingly for how much I eat, I don't gain any weight. And not like crash diets, its a very healthy method. But green tea is very healthy for you too-its just not one of those "diet supplements".

Yes, green tea will boost your metabolism — because: caffeine will increase your metabolic rate. As far as exactly how much, I don't know. It would depend on the person, their weight, current activity level, etc. But, it is still good for you, so drink up!
