its just minerals from the water u drink, all teapots get it,especially if u have "hard" water.(water with a lot of minerals-depends where u live.)it wont hurt u-actually hard water has heart-protective benefits.but the white deposit can flake off and get into the tea-not harmful, but unapealing.soak in mix of water and vinegar overnite to loosen the deposits, then rinse well and use.

It is just calcium and lime that builds up when you don't have a water softener…
It is not unhealthy… It is just a build up of minerals due to the evaporation that happens when you heat the kettle.
It MIGHT… and I stress MIGHT… make the water taste a tad odd if you let it build up to a huge quantity… But otherwise it is harmless.
If you have a problem with it, use either white vinegar and a scrubbie or some CLR in the pot.

If washed regularly it should be fine. You can put vinegar in kettle and leave over night. That should dissolve it and rinse well.
