I signed up for the *free*( plus 4.95 S&H) trial of this product. I've been reading about how people need a confirmation number to cancel, and I'm confused. When I called on the tenth day after not having received the trial, I asked to cancel it. They asked for my name and phone number, and then canceled it. When I read some other Yahoo answers said that you need a confirmation number, I called back, on the 13th day. I gave the lady my number, and said I wanted to cancel it, and she said it already was. Then she told me that "you canceled it on June 30, through a Phillip Denson." I then asked for her name, and got it, and then said that I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be billed. She said that I wouldn't be charged. I just want to know if I should be worried…

If she said it was cancelled then don't worry about it. But always make sure you keep all information when doing free trials. Print off the terms, and make sure you write names down and dates when you call. But it sounds like you had it handled.

You should be fine. Most companies do this kind of scam to legally charge you for a worthless website or product. They hope you will forget to cancel on time and get to charge an outrageous monthly fee. However, this is a legal scam, but recent legislation has imposed systems to protect consumers from phantom charges. The company MUST cancel the membership "in good faith". This means if they tell you it is canceled then charge you then they are in violation of obligations set forth by the UCC when it comes to merchants.
