It is just an antioxidant. Some that is found in most dark green veggies. If you need a quick dose of antioxidants then green tea is a beneficial. If you eat lots of dark greens then you don’t need any green tea. chinese people drink lots of green tea! Chinese people have less diseases than western area, all because of green tea!

Just read about this yesterday on realage.com. As well as being good for the compexion & aging & general health re the antioxidants, it’s also good for brain function. It has alot of benefits, you’re supposed to drink it after brewing for only 2 minutes, in order to get the most benefit from it & you’re supposed to have at least 2 cups a day. You can also apply it directly to your face with cotton wool balls once it’s cooled.

Green tea is one of the most widely spread nutritional cures, used especially for weight loss. Here is where you can find more about its benefits from real nutrition specialists: http://www.myhealth-forum.com/

The benefits of green tea come from the complex of antioxidants inherent in the early (green) stage of the tea buds (camelia sinensis). This includes polyphenols, catechins, and others that are both discovered and undiscovered as of yet.

An interesting note is that I have heard that small studies have been done on cellular protection in precancerous conditions where patients drank green tea daily. In studies where both decaf and regular green tea was used, the decaf had very little or no benefits overall. There is something about the antioxidants AND the caffeine that makes it more effective for health, apparently.

Another interesting note is that you should only steep green tea in hot water for 1 or 1&1/2 minutes or so, as opposed to 3-4 minutes for black tea because if too much tannin is soaked out of the green tea into the water it will become bitter and the antioxidants will also be less effective. I doubt there’s any studies on that but there are tea experts that I think would corroborate the claim, like those at Republic of Tea (see sources).

My last interesting note is that white tea, which is the baby version of green tea and black tea is even higher in antioxidants than either of them, and has less caffeine than either of them.

One of the constituents of green tea is EGCG which is an extracted part that is loaded into diet drinks and pills for weight loss. There have been health issues associated with super-high intake of EGCG so be wise about how much you take, and the source should be reputable. Green tea in its traditional form contains normal, not potent, amounts of EGCG and is safer for that reason I’m sure.

Antioxidants in general benefit cellular health and may help protect cells from mutations associated with cancer, aging, or environmental toxicity. More studies are needed, and are underway, on green tea and its total benefits. Keep in mind that studies only prove very limited things about the benefits of foods and natural substances, in many cases, and sometimes research and common sense can tell us a lot more :)

Dr D’Adamo wrote in his books on blood-type diets that Blood Type A positive and negative have generally weaker immune systems overall but seem to also benefit the most from green tea and other specific medicinal foods for fighting disease.

      Hope that helps :)

Green Tea is a product that has been growing in popularity for a couple years now. Typical of ancient herbs from the Chinese culture, Green Tea is loaded with healthy nutrients like antioxidants that will give you energy, assist with weight loss, and fight a number of diseases.

Now we have an even better product called Enhanced Green Tea. Just 1 serving of Enhanced Green Tea contains as much nutrients as 1 gallon of brewed green tea.

Studies suggest that green tea extract may boost metabolism and help burn fat. One study confirmed that the combination of green tea and caffeine improved weight loss and maintenance in overweight and moderately obese individuals. Some researchers speculate that substances in green tea known as polyphenols, specifically the catechins, are responsible for the herb’s fat-burning effect.

The benefits of green tea are numerous. In fact, if you were to go to PubMed.com and do a search for green tea, you’d find over 2,000 studies performed on green tea and its components (eg, EGCG, theanine, vitamin E, etc…).

Possible benefits are being investigated for weight loss, cancer prevention, antioxidant activity, cognitive enhancement, general good health and well being… and the list goes on and on.

You can order a free trial of Enhanced Green Tea from the source link below. So far all I’ve heard is that the Enhanced Green Tea supplement is helping people to feel great. It provides more energy and antioxidants than you would normally get from drinking cups of tea all day.
