Which herbal teas taste best (or closest to real iced tea)iced?

August 30th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Hi everyone!! I love sweet tea and need some recommendations on types of herbal tea, brewed, sugar added and iced, taste closet to the real thing. I am not so much wanting anything with flavors added but something that I can brew, add sugar to and taste just like sweet tea I would make with regular tea bags but just the herbal version.

There are Earl Grey flavored rooibos tisanes out there, but I haven’t tried them as iced. Check around the herbal section in adagio.com - excellent tea site.

celestial seasonings has Rooibus (pronounced ROY_BUS)

and they also have Honeybush. Both are herbal and both have no caffeine. They’re pretty tasty also.

You might give pau d’arco tea a try. Some people say it tastes a little bitter, but in my own use (two or three different brands) it was naturally sweet. Sugar and honey are recommended for sweeteners.

If you’re pregnant or nursing you probably shouldn’t use pau d’arco. As with all herbs read about side effects and contraindications before using it, and contact a doctor if necessary before beginning use.
