I am 40 years old, never pregnant and have always had irregular periods. For the past year or so I have seen an increase in the size and amount of clotting I have been passing. One or two days during the cycle I am afraid to move, the flow is so heavy. I feel the clots pass and they make the tampoons (and pads) ineffective. My period now lasts 7-8 days when it was more like 4-5.
I drink green tea diluted without sugar or lemon, about 1 quart a day and think that may be the culprit or am I entering menopause?

I think you're entering the menopause and it's not green tea. Bleeding usually gets heavier as women enter the menopause…so get ready to say goodbye to monthly annoyances.

Drinking green tea should affect your clotting. Tea actually reduces clotting factors. I also don't think that a quart of green tea a day is unusual or dangerous.
It's not unusual for perimenopausal (around menopause) women to experience longer periods with more bleeding, as their hormones try to balance out and your body experiences spikes and dips in hormone production. Perimenopause can last a number of years before true menopause sets in, so it does not necessarily mean that menopause is on the near horizon.
You can talk to your physiscan if you continue to have problems. Sometimes, oral contraceptives may be prescribed in order to mitigate menstrual symptoms. (not something I'm advocating - just an FYI).

Again, if this is very unusual for you or you are concened, the best course of action is always to see your doctor.
